I have spent 10 years working in IT industry for Electronic Data Systems (EDS) and Hewlett Packard (HP) In addition to working with various clients ranging form the NHS and BP, to Kraft, Liverpool Victoria and Barclays I was the Young Enterprise EDS’s Lead Business Advisor in Bournemouth for three years supporting groups of school children in setting up and running their own businesses.

I also ran a NVQ apprenticeship programme where I mentored and assessed four modern apprentices. I was lucky enough to be the special guest of e-skills uk at the LSC 2006 Apprenticeship Awards hosted at the London Hilton on Park Lane. Here I met the newscaster, Natasha Kaplinsky and discussed the value of role models with Richard Hammond, the co-host of Top Gear.

I have now chosen to follow my heart and since November 2008 I have had the great privilege to work within one of the two nationally recognised nurture units at Kinson Primary School before moving into a Year 5 class as a Teaching Assistant as well as working with nine pupils as a Learning Mentor.

I myself have a lot to learn, a prospect that I find both exciting and daunting and to that end it is my intention to use this blog as valuable step in building and supporting my own Personal Learning Network (PLN).
